WhatsApp now let’s Text Formatting, Improved File Sharing and More

WhatsApp messenger bringing numerous updates to the app since the WhatsApp beta launched in Play Store. So here I’m listing all the changes implemented in the latest update.

Text Formatting

You can now format text in WhatsApp messages as bold or italics. To write bold you have to put asterisks between text. For example: *text*
And to write a message in italics you just have to put underscores between the text for example: _text_ and you should see the formatting on your device. The recipients sees depend on which version of the app they’re running (2.12.510 can’t but 2.12.535 can).

Improvement in Document sharing

WhatsApp bring some improvements in document sending feature, which was introduced few weeks ago. When you attaching documents, you can see a new option which is ‘Browse other docs…’ this will allow you to attach files from Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive accounts. However, those will be converted to PDFs before being sent.

Note: You can’t send .doc .docx .xls or .xlsx files, only Docs and Sheets are supporting for now.

Back-ups

When the Google Drive does schedule backup, you get a pop-up that blocks the entire app, leaving you with nothing but the option to wait until it was over. There was no progress bar and percentage, that was really annoying if you are chatting with someone but thanks to the latest update, it will show you the percentage with that you will get clear idea of how much more you have to wait.

And the last notable change is that the phone number no longer shows up front and centre in the new Settings screen. Your profile will show the photo, name and status.

If want to download the latest version of WhatsApp grab it from APK Mirror or join into the official play store beta program.
